Welcome to our Purdue University Development website! We will soon launch a new website design, making it easier for everyone to discover Purdue and the wonderful opportunities for supporting our students and faculty.

During our President’s Council Annual Weekend in late September, President France Córdova announced a gift of $10 million from Marybeth Lyles Higuera The money will fund construction of Lyles-Porter Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences facility. It is named for the grandfathers of Marybeth’s  four children.

This gift and new facility will improve on the excellence of a Purdue education in Department of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences, part of College of Liberal Arts.

Programs in the department are already highly ranked. U.S. News & World Report ranks our Speech and Language Pathology program second in nation. Our Doctor of Audiology is ranked ninth. Our Research doctoral programs are ranked third by Academic Analytics. Marybeth’s gift and the new facility will advance research, outreach and help to launch tomorrow’s leaders in these important fields. Our thanks to Marybeth and her husband, Joe, for this wonderful gift.

The President’s Council Annual Weekend was a great success. The always popular Back-To-Class sessions featuring our world-class faculty covered a wide variety of fascinating topics and the annual dinner and pre-game buffet each attracted 500 people.

October is a busy month on campus beginning with Homecoming and dedication of the Wayne T. and Mary T. Hockmeyer Hall for Structural Biology. Purdue is recognized worldwide as a leader in Structural Biology. Professor Michael Rossmann leads a team that was first to model a common cold virus. Professor Richard Kuhn and his team are nearing breakthroughs in dengue and West Nile virus. Professor Jue Chen leads a team that could have a revolutionary impact on drug delivery and cancer treatment.

Thanks to the Hockmeyers and more than 200 other donors we now have a state-of-the-art facility for our excellent faculty and students.

Also in October we are dedicating the Class of 1980 gift, A Place in the Sun. This wonderful gift creates a beautiful courtyard between the Memorial Union and Stewart Center.

Our Access and Success Campaign continues toward its goal of raising $304 million for scholarships and programs. More than 2,200 Presidential and Trustees merit scholars are now on our campus, supported by Access and Success.

The $100 million Mackey Renovation is underway and nearing its goal of raising $32 million from donors, but you still have an opportunity to be part of upgrading this important part of the spirit of Purdue.

I am honored to serve as interim vice president for development and I hope to visit with you on campus to show you the transformation that is taking place at our University.

          Hail Purdue!

          Robin G. Bellinger
          Interim Vice President For Development
