Harrison

Marietta L. Harrison

Marietta received her Ph.D degree in 1980 from the University of Wyoming. She undertook postdoctoral training at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle where she was the recipient of Postdoctoral Fellowships from the National Institutes of Health and the Cancer Research Institute. She moved to Purdue University in 1982, when her husband accepted a faculty position in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology. She joined the faculty at Purdue in 1989 as an Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology.

Dr. Harrison's current positions are Director, Oncological Sciences Center in Discovery Park; Associate Vice President for Research, Associate Director, Purdue Cancer Center; and Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology in the College of Pharmacy, Purdue University. Dr. Harrison was the co-recipient of a Lafayette Lions Purdue Cancer Research Award and served for many years on the Purdue University Graduate Opportunity Fellowship Committee, the School of Pharmacy Minority Advocacy Committee and as faculty advisor to the Purdue chapter of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association. She also served as a member of the American Association for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Human Resource Committee.

Dr. Harrison is the author of over 50 peer-reviewed publications and served as a member of several National Institutes of Health Special Study Sections. She served as a permanent member of the National Institutes of Health Experimental Immunology Study Section from 1997-2001. She has served as a reviewer for several journals and served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Biological Chemistry from 1995-2000 and is currently serving a second term on the Journal of Biological Chemistry Editorial Board.

October 2006, Marietta was honored as the Collaborator of the Year with an award from the Walther Cancer Institute.



Nagel

Julie Seward Nagel

Julie received her Ph.D. degree in 2000 from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in Environmental Toxicology. After postdoctoral training at the Institute of Toxicology at Wayne State University, she left the University to work at a small start-up company out of the University of Michigan. As Technical Coordinator, for Rubicon Genomics, Inc., she led federal funding development efforts and was responsible for developing a federal funding pipeline into the company. Prior to joining the OSC, Julie was a program director for Biotechnology Business Consultants, LLC.

Julie has successfully directed both statewide and regional programs providing assistance to Life Science entrepreneurs. She has developed and implemented numerous programs to assist early stage life science entrepreneurs including a federal grant opportunity matching program, a federal grant strategy program, and a newsletter circulated to over 1000 clients. Julie also managed all activities surrounding both a statewide and regional SBIR/STTR grant assistance program. She was involved in the development and delivery of a nationally recognized SBIR/STTR training curriculum focused on the National Institutes of Health and has participated as a technical and editorial reviewer on over 100 SBIR/STTR proposals.

Julie joined the OSC in December 2005.

Kris Swank

Kris Swank is the Administrative Assistant for the Oncological Sciences Center. She came to the Center in October, 2005, from the Division of Recreational Sports. She brings 16 years of Purdue experience to her position. A Graduate of Leading Edge and Leadership Lafayette, recipient of the Student Services Merit Award, and an honorary member of the Tomahawk Service and Leadership Honor Society. Most recently she was the recipient of the 2006 Eudoxia Girard Martin Award.
