John Bickham

Dr. Bickham came to Purdue from Texas A&M where he was a professor of genetics, toxicology and wildlife and fisheries sciences. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Dayton . He earned his doctoral degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

Dr. Bickham received the Distinguished Professor Award from the Association of Graduate Wildlife and Fisheries Scientists at Texas A&M, the Award for Excellence in Research from the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Donald W. Tinkle Research Excellence Award from the Southwestern Association of Naturalists.

He currently is a member of the review board for the journal Ecotoxicology and is a member of the U.S. delegation to the Scientific Committee of the International Whaling Commission. He was president of the Southwestern Association of Naturalists from 1985-87.

His sponsored research has focused on population genetics of Steller sea lions and bowhead whales, biodiversity studies in wildlife and ecotoxicological studies in contaminated environments. Dr. Bickham also has led research in capillary-based sequencing and genotyping at the Center for Biosystematics and Biodiversity and in using swallows as sentinels of environmental health in U.S.-Mexico border regions and elsewhere. His international studies include projects in Azerbaijan , Russia and Guatemala.

Dr. John Lee primarily researches in the area of natural resource economics. His specialty areas include water resource economics, soil and water conservation policy, and assessment of agricultural and environmental risk. His current research is focused on linking international trade and the enviromen. This work ranges from the potential impact of livestock diseases to multifuncionality in trade trade negotiations. Dr. Lee teaches AGEC 200 "Introduction to Agricultural Economics," AGEC 604 "Fundementals of Welfare Economics," and AGEC 616 "Natural Resource Economics and Policy."

Brent coordinates the outreach and education activities for the Center. Prior to joining C4E, he served as a Water Quality Specialist for eight years in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Purdue and helped develop innovative engagement activities like the Indiana Watershed Leadership Academy . Brent's background includes watershed science, water quality, agriculture and natural resources. He received his B.S. in Animal Sciences and his M.S. in Ethology from Purdue University.

Cindy is the Administrative Assistant for the Center for the Environment. She came to the Center in October, 2005, from The Graduate School. She received a B.S. Degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision from Purdue University. She brings 18 years of Purdue experience to her position.




The Administrative Advisory Council

(AAC)'s charge is to facilitate linkages to academics units, institutes, and other centers; to identify opportunities and red flags, and to serve as a check and balance. The AAC is selected from faculty serving as department or school heads, center or institute directors, and associate Deans.
