COMMITTEES

regarding team’s participation in charitable events, communicate
with Tanya Foster (IAF 212) concerning upcoming charitable events,
coordinate with sports information or public relations committee
concerning publicity as necessary.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE
Purpose: To promote communication and interaction among various
teams. This could include a scheduled social event or be a matter
of arranging for one team to show up and cheer on one another in
competition. This committee could also plan social functions (Student-Athlete
Formal) for the Captains’ Table as a whole.
STUDENT-ATHLETE WELFARE COMMITTEE
Purpose: This committee is concerned with issues that affect student-athletes
on a daily basis. This could include things such as conditions in
the locker room (needing new clocks), study table hours, bike racks,
residence hall dining hours, etc.
LEGISLATIVE CONCERNS COMMITTEE
Purpose: To coordinate with the compliance staff concerning NCAA
and Big Ten rules and to communicate this information at Captains’
Table meetings. The Big Ten representative who represents Purdue
at the fall and spring Big Ten SAAC meetings usually chairs this
committee.
PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE
Purpose: Works with the Athletic Public Relations Office in an effort
to increase publicity for all sports. Focus is for both on and off
the field types of events. For example, this committee has worked
to see that all sports are covered in greater detail by local media
sources and worked with the Community Services committee to get
out information concerning charitable events.
